Randy Cooper, also known as Coop, was born and raised in Baytown, TX (30 minutes East of Houston, TX). He was raised in a Christian home and made his profession of faith at the age of 6. He committed his life to ministry at a DNOW in the 8th grade. He started dating his wife, Rachel, his senior year in high school (1998). They both graduated from the University of Houston - Clear Lake in May of 2003 and were married September 27, 2003. They have 2 young boys, Tyler (10) and Kaden (7).
Coop worked in banking, social security, and in the oil and gas industry before entering vocational ministry in August of 2013. They left everything they knew and moved to Henderson, TX to be the Youth Pastor at Hillview Baptist Church. During the past 6 years at Hillview Coop has moved from Youth Pastor to Discipleship Pastor to Senior Pastor.
The Coopers have really enjoyed their time in East Texas and truly love the beauty of rolling hills, wonderful smog free sunsets, and the kindness of the people.
Coop enjoys spending time with his family, playing sports (golf, softball, and basketball), and coaching his boy's baseball teams. He enjoys teaching and working with youth. He taught middle school Bible, Algebra II, middle school athletics, high school athletics, and was the head coach for the high school football team at Full Armor Christian Academy in Henderson. He is an Astros fan and has many fond memories of watching Nolan Ryan pitch in the Astrodome as a young boy with his dad.
The most important love of his life is Jesus Christ. He is committed to serve Him in any way that the Lord calls him. Coop has a passion for the lost and overlooked people in this world. He has preached the Gospel in the mountains of Kenya with the Maasai tribe, built homes for widows, and preached to a men's group at an alcohol and drug facility in Guatemala. Coop has a passport and will travel to anywhere that God calls.
Coop has a strong desire for the lost to come to Christ and for His bride to grow in discipleship and love for the broken in our community. He is looking forward to building relationships with the students and families at Trinity. He is willing to come along side them in discipleship and help in any way possible.
And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”
His life verse is Isaiah 6:8 ESV :8
